It seems to me I have a thing going on for Maknae’s. Not just any Maknae though. Not only do I love Suju‘s Kyuhyun, or SS501‘s Hyung Joon, because they have put out some great music, but because they’re either funny or talented. And this time it’s all about Dae Guk Nam Ah/The Boss‘ Maknae Jeon Jihwan, or Jay for short. And he’s a little bit of both to be honest.
Jeon Jihwan (전지환) was born on March 31, 1994 in Seoul as the youngest son in a family of two. He went under the stage name Kiparang before changing it to Jay when joining The Boss.
He figured out for himself that he wanted to be a dancer after seeing H.O.T‘s Jang Woo Hyuk dance on a Korean TV-show. A little while later, the kid started dancing so good, that even Poppin’ Hyunjoon (One of the best ‘poppers’ in South Korea) had to admit it. Soon he was called Poppin’ Hyunjoon’s Prodigy.
He appeared in Star King in 2008. In the program he eventually won the big prize for his astounding capabilities. Jihwan became an active member of Xing in the same year and took part in the 3rd and 4th generation of Xing before eventually trading this rotation band (Kevin and Kibum from U-kiss, and Junhyung from Beast are also previous members) for a new one called Dae Guk Nam Ah, or The Boss in English.
He has experience in acting, and is the rapper and dancer of the band.
It’s not really that weird I like him, but after becoming interested in SHINee’s Maknae Taemin, I swore to myself I wouldn’t follow anyone younger than him. Well, it only took me a few months after SHINee’s debut, to come up with Xing videos and discover Jihwan’s dancing. Although the kid was only 14 when he entered Xing, he was really talented. And ever since I’ve been kind of addicted to dancing vids.
Can you believe he was only 12 or so when he danced the first Youtube thingy, and 14 when he did the second?
